We’ve been a long-time fan of Grey Matter and were thrilled to a chance to talk to Sirag Khorshed, a managing Partner, on what makes them so successful and unique.
HdF: Hey, Sirag! What do you do at Grey Matter LA?
SK: I am a managing Partner at Grey Matter LA. I am responsible for the business affairs of our shop as well as customer experience.
HdF: Many customers rave about their experiences at Grey Matter LA. What makes it unique?
SK: Grey Matter was built with the intention of focusing not only on making our clients look great but the actual experience. This starts off with walking into a modern upbeat shop with friendly staff and amazing aesthetics. The shop was designed with a comfortable and efficient salon style layout which allows everyone to interact together giving it a classic barbershop feel with a modern edge.
HdF: How’d you get started in this business?
SK: I got started in the business being introduced to Vince and Joey (Co-Owners) through mutual friends. As a business developer, I ended up joining their team and working alongside them in focusing on building the vision and future of Grey Matter LA.
HdF: What’s your favorite part about going in to work every day?
SK: My favorite part of going to work is the interaction with our clients. Everyday in the shop is a story and an experience. We are blessed to have clientele from all over the world that come give Grey Matter its soul and feel. Watching the connections that are made here blow me away sometimes.
HdF: You guys are so connected with your neighborhood. What are ways you give back to the community?
SK: One of Grey Matters core foundations is giving back to the community we serve. We are involved with several organizations that do so from organizing and planning toy drives, food drives, cuts for the underprivileged, mentorship programs and, sponsorships. With the efforts of our staff and great Clientele we have been able to make a difference.
We have been blessed to work with wonderful organizations such as the Los Angeles City Fire Department, Operation Gratitude, The Jeffrey Foundation, Gobble Gobble Give, and The Boys and Girls Club of Southern California.
HdF: You have so many brand to choose from, why use Hanz de Fuko?
SK: At Grey Matter, we carry and use Hanz de Fuko because it's a great product with great results. In an industry saturated with hair care products, Hanz de fuko strives to be a brand with values using organic ingredients while still being able to perform. Our Clients love the brand and so does our team.
HdF: What’s in store for the future?
SK: As the Grey Matter brand expands, we will be focusing on growing the business and opening more locations. Our goal in the future is to create a uniform experience within our shops regardless of where you are. As we move forward we will make sure to keep our core values consistent and take care of whatever community we are in.
